Our new series Get To Know introduces the faces behind the collection. We sit down for a chat with Edyll, who is the face of our new collection Gypsy Girl. We speak to her about life, fashion and her favourite pieces from Gypsy Girl.
Hi Edyll! Please tell us a little about yourself.
Well, I’m 23 and from Somalia. I was born in Melbourne but raised over here and sunny Perth. I’m currently in my 2nd year of acting training at WAAPA and I love a great day at the beach and listening to chill music when winding down.
How did you get into modelling?
I actually was scouted when I was 13 at a shopping centre but it didn’t go any further than that because my parents were not comfortable with me doing it. When I was 17 I was scouted again but it wasn’t until I was 18/19 when I started properly modelling. Now I’m freelancing and loving it!
What is one thing you cannot leave the house with when you go for a shoot?
Definitely a small scarf to cover my face when changing and make-up wipes! I don’t want makeup to stain the amazing clothes I wear and also normally have to be somewhere after a shoot so make-up wipes are really convenient.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I really hope I’ll be living in Sydney or LA working as an actor/model. Hopefully by then I’ve created a great portfolio of work and have a stable footing in the industry. But we will see!
Which is your favourite piece from Gypsy Girl?
I love love love the Gypsy Girl Blouse and Skirt. It’s so comfortable and breathable. Perfect summer two-piece.
Last one, if you could walk on one Fashion Week, which one would it be and why?
I would love to walk for Seoul Fashion Week. I was over there for exchange in 2017, didn’t get a ticket for the shows but just being around the main venue was incredible! Never seen anything like it.
